South Africa

South Africa lies in the southern hemisphere and is the southernmost country in Africa. The landscape is characterised by the coastal flatlands, the mountainous thresholds and the highlands. The climate is mostly near-tropical. The cold Benguela Current off the Atlantic coast and the warm Agulhas Current off the south and east coasts influence the temperatures and rainfall in the country. Because there is barely any difference in temperature between summer and winter, the vegetation is very diverse with coherent evergreen forest areas. Around 13 percent of the country is farmed, where the local people can live by subsistence farming. Crops include maize and wheat, but also citrus fruits and HiPP Organic peaches.
