Pears

At HiPP Organic, we’re big on organic, which is why we’re serious about the organic pears that we grow.

Did you know that a pear tree can live up to 180 years but it only brings a rich harvest from 5 years up to the age of 50? There are around 5,000 different types of pears in the world, and they’re differentiated by being either summer, autumn or winter pears.

For our HiPP Organic pear purees we use one in particular: the Williams Christ pear because it’s well tolerated by most babies and is therefore an ideal start to the weaning diet.

To grow and ripen properly, HiPP Organic pears need a place that is not too hot and not too cold with a period of frost in winter. Whether in Europe or in South America, we do not use chemical spraying agents in any of our regions of origin. The organic pears are only harvested when they contain the ideal sugar-acid ratio. In the northern hemisphere, the harvest takes place from September to October and in the southern hemisphere, they’re harvested between February and March.

Picking the right type of organic pear and growing it naturally is another little thing we do here at HiPP Organic because we believe it makes a big difference to the taste and quality of our organic pear purees.
