Two simple savoury recipes for developing tastebuds by @jadegibbs99
Weaning | Recipes | | Jade GibbsWhen babies first begin on their weaning journey, they’re already much more accepting of sweet than savoury and it’s sometimes difficult to bring them to eat new flavours.
That’s where the HiPP Organic’s new Veg Blends come in extremely handy. They come in two flavours - Carrot & Peas and Potato & Courgette and are a great way of introducing savoury flavours to children with developing taste buds.
There are such big differences between traditional weaning and baby led weaning, luckily HiPP Organic jars are perfect for both and make cooking and preparing meals a breeze.
When I served these two simple Veg Blend based recipes to my two boys they absolutely adored them. The meals were happy ones, filled with laughter and smiles from everyone and finished with clean plates.
Carrot and Peas Pasta
HiPP Organic’s Carrot and Peas jar makes for the perfect pasta sauce and it’s so simple, quick and easy, meaning more time to play and enjoy all those precious moments.
You will need:
- A handful of pasta
- A jar of HiPP Organic Veg Blends - Carrot and Peas flavour.
Step 1: Boil the pasta for 10 minutes until soft. I personally over cook the children’s pasta so it’s super soft as my youngest only has 2 teeth.
Step 2: Warm half a jar of HiPP Organic Carrot and Peas jar.
Step 3: Mix the pasta and sauce together and serve with a side of vegetables for a meal both my toddler and infant enjoy.
Potato and Courgette Cottage Pie
Our favourite thing to do with HiPP’s Courgettes and Potatoes jar is to make a cottage pie with it.
You will need:
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 500g mince meat
- 1/2 onion
- 1 celery stick
- 1/2 garlic clove
- 400ml beef stock
- 1 carrot
- A handful of green beans
- A handful of peas
- 1 jar of HiPP Organic Courgettes and Potatoes jar.
Step 1: Chop and pre boil the carrot, green beans and peas in a saucepan until slightly soft.
Step 2: Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in a large saucepan and add half the mince meat until browned. Set this aside and do the same with the other half.
Step 3: Set the mince meat aside and add 1 tbsp of olive oil, 1/2 onion chopped, 1/2 garlic clove finely chopped, celery chopped to the pan and cook until soft.
Step 4: Add the carrot, peas and green beans then return the mince to the pan and pour the 400ml of beef stock to the pan, bring to simmer and cook for 25 minutes.
Step 5: Pour everything from the pan into an ovenproof dish and spoon the HiPP Organic Courgettes and Potatoes jar onto the top. Add the dish to the over at 200c and cook for 10 minutes.
Now the dish is finished and ready to be served to your hungry little ones! There’s nothing quite as special as watching my children enjoy a healthy meal that I know is providing so many good nutrients for them.
Thank you so much HiPP for providing us with a product that contains the best for our children and being a brand we can put our trust in.
